My dogs are my best friends. But I would hesitate dropping $500 on a vacuum I’m only going to use once a week, at most.
If you’re like me and can’t see yourself paying $500 for a Dyson Animal 2, then the Shark Rotator NV752 is a good Dyson vacuum alternative.
The suction strength is great (though not as powerful as the Dyson’s), but the lift-away mode and the free powered roller pet brush makes for a good compromise.
You know how light pet hair is and how easily it can be transported from one spot to another. If you’ve got a fan blowing directly on loose hair, those can fly literally anywhere in your house.
So, let’s take a look at how the Shark NV752 can help you solve your pet hair (and other kinds of dirt) problem:
Advantages of the Shark Rotator TruePet NV752 Vacuum Cleaner
This section is also known as why we think this is the best Shark vacuum for pet hair right now.
Favorite feature #1: Dynamic swivel steering in upright mode
Well, if there’s one thing I hate about most upright vacuums, it’s that they can be hard to maneuver.
If you’re currently using a vacuum like this, then you know how frustrating it can get. Like, you just want to clean your house, right?
But your vacuum’s acting up and now you feel like you’re lugging around a dead horse in your living room!
Fortunately, this Shark vacuum for pet hair’s steering is superb! With easy-glide wheels, you can control the direction you want your vacuum to go to without resorting to gymnastics.
There’s a toy you want to avoid on the carpet? Just flick your wrist and move the handle in the right direction, and voila – toy avoided! No need to huff and puff just to move the vacuum around.
Favorite feature #2: Powered lift-away mode
This truly is this vacuum’s best selling point. I mean, how many times have you lifted your entire vacuum to reach some tight spot behind the couch? Or how you tried lifting heavy furniture just to clean underneath? Countless times?
Well, I’m not even going to ask about your back – I know from personal experience just how bad lifting heavy stuff can get!
If you’ve got lots of nooks and crannies in your house that have been gathering dust for the last decade or so, then you better believe me when I say you NEED this vacuum.
Now you can look at monsters hiding beneath your bed – you’ve got a formidable weapon in hand. The Shark Rotator TruePet NV752’s Lift-Away mode will truly suck those scary monsters out!
The Shark’s versatile lift-away mode is unmatched in terms of ease of use. Just press the Lift-Away button to lift the dust canister off the nozzle, and you’re off to the cleaning races!
Favorite feature #3: TruePet mini motorized brush
Many vacuums offer a brush attachment, but this Shark vacuum is special. Why? Because they don’t just use a regular, suction-driven brush. Instead, this model uses a motorized brush tool. I don’t know about you, but I find this feature to be extremely useful.
Most vacuum brushes I’ve come across do so very little for me, I literally use them once and then put them in the box forever. But this motorized brush is so powerful, I’ve actually used this several times!
I love how the motor adds so much more power to the brush that it can quickly remove all sorts of dirt and dust from my dog’s sleeping area. I’ve also sneezed a whole lot less after vacuuming the giant pillows on my couch!
Also, if you’ve got stairs (carpeted or otherwise), you’ll find this brush tool to be a life-saver too! Truly, this feature is enough for many users to proclaim this is the best Shark vacuum for pet hair, EVER!
Favorite feature #4: Fingertip controls
I know some vacuums offer automatic controls, but personally, I like how the manual fingertip controls give me total control over different settings.
Like, if I’m cleaning thick carpets or area rugs (which my dog loves!), I just need to set the floor selector to ‘Carpet’.
If I’m cleaning low pile carpets like the ones in my bedroom, then I’ll choose the second option which is ‘Carpet| Low Pile’. By the way, this setting is also great for deep cleaning embedded dirt in most carpets.
Lastly, for cleaning hard floors, there’s a third option for that. Just slide down the selector to ‘Hard Floor Cleaning.’
Favorite feature #5: LED lights
This seems like such a simple feature, but not a lot of vacuums have LED lights on it. So, you may think you’ve already swept the floors clean, but have another look with the LED lights on, and you’ll be amazed at how much dirt is still there!
Think of the bright LED lights on both the handle and nozzle as your nifty dirt assassins. They’ll help you to actually clean areas you already thought were clean (but really weren’t)!
A Few Disadvantages
Disadvantage #1: Short flex hose
Yeah, this one’s truly a bit of a disappointment. I mean, it’s great that you can detach the canister and use the Lift-away mode to clean hard-to-reach spots. But with a short hose (it’s just about 3 feet long), you’ll probably still need to carry the canister around.
It’s great if you’re working on a relatively small space because you can just put the canister on the ground. But if you’re trying to clean a spot that’s more than a few feet away, then the short hose really becomes inconvenient.
I suppose the workaround to this would be to use a power strip or extension cord to plug your vacuum into. Inconvenient, yes, but not mightily so, especially if you’ve got a spare power cord around. 🙂
Disadvantage #2: A bit top heavy
This vacuum may be light but it’s a bit top-heavy. I guess this means the center of gravity is higher than where it should be (probably somewhere lower). This makes the vacuum tip over when moving around and using the wand.
The obvious solution to this is to use a caddy, but this is an additional expense. So, it’s really up to you if you can live with the tipping-over-when-you’re-concentrating-on-cleaning stuff.
Shark Rotator TruePet NV752 Vacuum Actual User Reviews
Here’s what other users of the Shark Rotator NV752 think about this excellent-value-for-money vacuum:
I absolutely love this vacuum! I’ve been using this since 2017 and it’s never disappointed me. Sure, the hose may be on the short side but I’ve learned to compromise and just use a power strip to extend my vacuum’s reach. I love how quiet and how powerful the suction on this thing is. Also, I appreciate that they’ve thrown in a number of attachments as well.
Well, I have to say the LED lights are my favorite thing on this vacuum! Even my dogs and cats love the lights. They do get scared of the vibrations and noise coming off the vacuum (though they’re not too loud – I suppose my pets just have sensitive ears). Since I got this Shark, my house has been in a whole new level of cleanness. I always get compliments from my friends when they visit over about how clean my house is despite having 5 animals living with me. Little did we know there are tons more dirt hiding in plain sight – thankfully those wonderful LED lights opened up my eyes and showed me just how dirty my house really is!
You know what my favorite feature on this vacuum is? Yes, the lift-away mode is great and all that, but it’s not my favorite feature. What I really love about the NV752 is the fact that it’s a couple hundred dollars less than the more popular Dyson Animal 2. I’ve only got one small dog, so I suppose my needs could have been different from those who have several animals in the home. I vacuum the apartment from top to bottom about twice a month, and this Shark always does an excellent job!
