Summary of our detailed dogPACER LF 3.1 Pet Treadmill Review:

The dogPACER brand does not disappoint with this treadmill. It’s got all the features most pet owners seek in a pet treadmill. The running belt is long and wide enough for a dog to use.

The dogPACER LF 3.1 is relatively quiet. It’s got a bunch of pre-set exercise programs. And you can manually control the speed and incline according to your pet’s abilities. All these features in one very affordable treadmill!

Dogs aren’t meant to live a sedentary lifestyle. And truth be told, neither are we. If you’ve signed up at a gym near you, then good for you. But what about your dog? Is he getting enough exercise too?

I know… hitting the gym and taking the dog out for a walk every day are two different things. When the weather’s bad, it’s easy to just go to the gym. Unfortunately, most gyms don’t allow dogs inside.

Fortunately, pet treadmills do exist. And they’re not all that expensive either. Here, let me introduce you to the dogPACER LF 3.1 Pet Treadmill.

Advantages of the dogPACER LF 3.1 Folding Dog Treadmill

Favorite feature #1: Portability and easy storage

Yep, you read that right – you can fold this treadmill. Storing a treadmill that’s 6 feet long isn’t exactly easy.

So, if you don’t have a lot of space in your home, then you’ll like this machine. Just let it stand sideways, remove the locking pins, and fold it in half like you see in the picture above.

It’s also got transport wheels at the back. If you need to move it around from one spot to another, just lift it up by the front handles and move it like a wheelbarrow.

A portable dog treadmill is a great thing to have. The foldable technology and the dolly wheels are two things all dogPACER owners will love.

Favorite feature #2: Whisper-quiet motor

Dogs have super sensitive hearing. They can hear a lot of things we humans can’t. The loud motors on most human treadmills are usually too much for them.

Dog treadmills, on the other hand, are specifically designed to make as little noise as possible. This makes it easy for our fur babies to climb aboard and run to their heart’s content.

So, yes, the whisper-quiet motor on the dogPACER will be something that your pets will love.

Favorite feature #3: Pre-programmed and custom exercises

There are three pre-programmed exercises that ship with every dogPACER treadmill.

There’s P-1 for beginner workouts, P-2 for intermediate, and P-3 for advanced workouts. Each program runs for 30 minutes, but you’re free to stop it anytime.

Obviously, if your dog’s new to the treadmill, let them start at the P-1 program. Otherwise, you risk injuring them if you start them on an advanced program right away.

If you’ve got a special needs dog, that is, it’s nursing a slight injury or it’s elderly, then you may want to just stick to manual controls. Feel free to manually adjust the speed and incline levels.

Remember, exercise is not about hitting the top speed, it’s about letting your dog have fun while working out.

Dogs don’t care about calories or winning or any of that stuff we love to brag about.

Favorite feature #4: Good build quality

As long as you follow the setup instructions correctly, and don’t abuse the machine, this will last you a long time.

This means using the machine for hours at a time every single day. Of course, if you only have one dog, 30 minutes will be fine.

But if you’ve got 10 dogs and you’re letting each one run for 30 minutes, that will mean a total running time of 5 hours.

I am not sure how long this machine will last if it’s subjected to heavy daily usage.

Also, some owners report that their machine arrived in damaged condition. In the unfortunate case this happens to you, the 1-year warranty should help put your mind at ease.

Make sure you register your dogPACER, so they’ll honor the warranty.

Favorite feature #5: Good value for money

Other treadmills cost a whole lot more than this dogPACER. The quality and features on this machine more than justify the cost.

So, if you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a treadmill, this will be a great buy for you!

A Few Disadvantages

This is a great treadmill, but it’s not perfect. Here’s something we think the next dogPACER model can improve on:

Disadvantage #1: The side panels could be a bit better

There's not a lot of cons on this machine, but I would prefer a sturdier side panel to help prevent accidental falls. Dogs not used to running on a treadmill may jump over the side, so a metal railing may offer better protection.

Disadvantage #2: No custom programming option

Yeah, it’s great that the dogPACER comes with 3 pre-programmed options. But for the most part, it’s probably going to go unused by most pets. Most owners will stick to manually setting the speed and the incline level.

Imagine how nice it would be if this treadmill allowed pet owners to program the speed and the incline.

Say for example, for the first 5 minutes the speed will be at 0.5mph, then the next 5 minutes will go up to 1mph and the incline will increase to 6 degrees.

If you can custom program, you can just sit back, relax, and keep an eye on your dog without needing to get up and press the buttons to make manual adjustments.

dogPACER LF 3.1 Actual User Reviews

Here’s what other actual buyers say about this treadmill:

It took my dog a couple of weeks to get used to this machine. At first, I had a really tough time trying to convince her to stay on the machine longer than 5 seconds. I tried everything, all to no avail. So, I decided to move the treadmill to the garage so she gets a view outside. That was the key to getting her to stay! I know she loves running outdoors, but I just got a new job and I can’t take her out as often as she likes. Fortunately, she got used to this dogPACER and now she can take her walks every single day.
I was torn between getting a treadmill and a treadwheel. I wanted the GoPet treadwheel because I liked the idea of saving some money on electric bills. But the price was too much. So, I settled on this dogPACER. Compared to other treadmills in the big dog category, this one’s a steal. I bought this 8 months ago, and my dog uses it 5 days a week (I take her out for a walk on weekends). My best investment ever!
If you’re thinking of getting this treadmill, go ahead. My dog enjoys it so I’m happy with my purchase. Just remember to go slow the first couple of weeks to get your dog used to the machine. Try sticking to manual control instead of using a pre-programmed exercise, so you can see how far your dog can go.

Frequently Asked Questions About The dogPACER LF 3.1

  • Is it safe to leave my dog on the machine for, say, 30 minutes?

If your dog’s fit enough to run 30 minutes, then it shouldn’t be a problem. However, please avoid leaving your dog and letting him exercise unsupervised, especially if you put a leash on him. Your dog can get tired and he might fall off and hurt himself.

  • Can I let my cocker spaniel exercise on this?

Yes, you can. This machine can accommodate dogs up to 180 pounds. Some owners have even tried letting their 200+ pound dogs get on the machine and it was able to handle the extra weight with no problems. But, for safety reasons, it’s best to follow the max weight requirement.

  • Can I put this dogPACER on a carpet?

Sure, just make sure the floor underneath the carpet is level. Also, to avoid damaging the carpet, you better put some protection (like a cardboard or mat) underneath the treadmill.

  • Is this machine flat?

No, unfortunately, this machine does not lie flat. There is an incline of 5 degrees. You can adjust this up to 9 degrees. If you want a flat, 180-degree surface, then perhaps you can try putting something underneath the back legs to raise it up a bit.

Should you buy the dogPACER LF 3.1?

Yes, this is one of the best pet treadmills you can buy right now. It’s great value for your money, the quality is good, and it’s got a lot of useful, practical features.

If you’re worried about anything, the one-year warranty on parts and craftsmanship, as well as the lifetime warranty on the frame should put your mind at ease.
