Summary of our detailed Eureka PowerSpeed NEU202 Review:

The Eureka NEU202 offers great value for your money. There are plenty of cheap vacuums around, but none offer the same level of technology and features like this Eureka. I highly recommend this for pet owners who are on a tight budget, but still want the best pet vacuum for their homes.

For the thrifty pet owner, spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum with all the bells and whistles is an unnecessary expense.

Even if you can afford to spend the money, why bother when there’s a perfectly affordable vacuum that does pretty much the same things as more expensive ones?

In most cases, the saying ‘quality comes at a price’ holds true. But not for pet vacuums. The truth is I was pleasantly surprised when I realized this Eureka vacuum goes for less than a hundred bucks!

Of course, at this price point, there will be some compromises. So, it’s not going to be for everybody. But for practical pet owners, this is a great vacuum to have.

Don’t believe me?

Read on for more reasons why I think the Eureka PowerSpeed NEU202 is the best budget pet vacuum cleaner today!

Advantages of the Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight NEU202 Vacuum

Favorite feature #1: The price!

Admittedly, the most attractive feature of Eureka vacuums is the price. It’s a far cry from the Sharks and the Dysons out there which all cost several hundred dollars.

But just because this Eureka is affordable, it doesn’t mean it’s of a poor quality. Far from it, in fact.

At this price point, you’d expect a machine that’s probably going to last a week or two. But this is not the case (unless of course you actually want to destroy it).

If you'll read the reviews on the web for this particular model, you’ll see that a lot of users are pretty happy with their purchase years after they bought it! (I’ll share some of the reviews later on in this article – feel free to scroll down if you want to read now).

Favorite feature #2: Good suction power

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. If this thing didn’t have good suction power in the first place, I’m not going to take the time to review this.

This machine has an 8 amp motor which is comparable to the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 1650A. It will have no problems sucking out pet hair, dust, and other debris on the floor.

While the suction power itself is strong, there is no user option to control the suction. So, you’re basically stuck at one speed. Fortunately, you can adjust the vacuum’s height. So, if you want the suction to be a bit less powerful, you can just adjust the height.

Favorite feature #3: Transparent brush roll with LED lights

Have you ever tried vacuuming at night? If yes, then you know it’s a pain cleaning underneath the bed and furniture. To light up the vacuum’s path, you probably use a flashlight to see what you’re doing.

With the Eureka NEU202, you can vacuum at any time of day. The LED lights are great at letting you see what you’re actually working on, and if you’ve missed some spots on the carpet.

Favorite feature #4: XL dust cup

Even the 5-6x more expensive Dyson Animal 2’s dust bin can only collect up to 2 liters of dust and dirt. But this extremely cheap Eureka can collect twice that at 4.1 liters! It’s quite amazing really.

Depending on the space you need to clean, you can go through your entire apartment, flat or house and not need to empty the dust cup!

Of course, for best results, you should still empty the dust cup after every use as it can affect the vacuum’s air flow.

Also, what’s even more convenient is that emptying the dust cup is as easy as pressing the release lever on the bottom lid of the cup.

Favorite feature #5: Lightweight at 11.8 pounds

This vacuum is one of the lightest vacuums we’ve featured on this website. Since it’s so light, you can also bring this around the house.

Pair up the lightness with the extended hose reach of up to 8 feet, and you can now easily clean hard-to-reach spots in your home!

A Few Disadvantages

Disadvantage #1: Non-HEPA filter

Admittedly, the lack of a HEPA filter is a disappointment. But at this price point, can you really complain?

If no one in your family is allergic to pet dander, then this vacuum is still a great purchase for you. Otherwise, there are other more expensive models out there that do use a HEPA filter.

The good thing though is that the filter is washable, so you don’t need to shell out extra money just to clean up the filter.

Disadvantage #2: Always-on brush roll

If you’ve a lot of hard floors in your homes, then this always-on brush roll can be a detriment to your cleaning activities. Sure, it’s great for cleaning carpets and rugs, but not so much for hard floors. This is because the brush will kick out the dirt instead of getting sucked up into the vacuum.

Disadvantage #3: All switches and controls are at the vacuum’s base

If you’ve got a bad back, you may not like the placement of this vacuum’s switches and controls. The power switch, handle release, and the height adjustment knob are all on the nozzle.

It’s great that the power switch and handle release are both pedals that you can just step on. It’s fine for people with good balance, but what about those who don’t? You’d still end up needing to bend to reach these pedals.

Eureka Pet PowerSpeed NEU202 Actual User Reviews

In this section, I’ve summarized a few reviews from people who’ve actually purchased and used this vacuum:

My son recommended this vacuum to me. He has a lovely golden retriever who sheds all over his apartment. He only had nice things to say about this Eureka. Since I trust his judgment, I decided to get one for myself as well. I’m in my 50s and I love how light this thing is. I can easily drag this vacuum from the bedroom to the living room to the kitchen and even the garage. I’ve been using this for 8 months now and have no problems with. Truly a great investment for my home!
When I bought this vacuum, I was a bit apprehensive. I was thinking the price was too good to be true. It can’t have 4 stars in Amazon and have the Amazon’s Choice badge, and be a bad vacuum, right? So, I thought I’d give this a try and see if it’s really as good as people say it is. Boy, was I surprised! I know it’s not as powerful as the more expensive Dysons, but for the price, it actually does a pretty good job! Thank you Eureka!

Frequently Asked Questions About The Eureka NEU202 Upright Canister Vacuum

  • Is it really a good value for money?

Oh, absolutely! You’re going to love this little vacuum. It may be light in weight, but it’s certainly a heavyweight features-wise. At less than $100, you’re getting access to features that are normally available only on more expensive models.

  • Is this thing built to last?

This vacuum is made with good quality plastic, but it’s still built to last for years. Many reviews on the web mention the fact that people have been using this vacuum for years without any problems. The warranty is good for two years; if you encounter any issues during this period, do contact Eureka to get your problem resolved.

  • Does this transition well from carpet to hardwood?

Yes, it does. There’s a height adjustment knob on the nozzle. Just twist it to your desired height and let the vacuum do its thing.

  • Is this vacuum quiet or noisy?
This is a bit on the noisy side. But then again, I think answers to questions like this are going to be subjective. If you’re used to quiet vacuums, you’ll find this noisy. But if you’re used to noisier vacuums, then you’ll feel right at home with the noise levels!

Should you buy the Eureka NEU202 Canister Vacuum?

If you don't want to spend more than a hundred bucks on a vacuum, then this is a perfectly good choice. Of course, you need to temper your expectations as well. You can’t expect a sub-$100 vacuum to perform as well as a $500+ vacuum. But for what it’s worth, this Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo vacuum does a pretty good job at cleaning homes - with or without pets.
