Ovente ST2620 Review: Best Budget Pet Vacuum Cleaner Under $100?

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Quality comes at a price.” This may be true in most cases, but this Ovente vacuum goes against the grain.

It’s one of the cheapest vacuums on the market, but unlike 90% of its competition, it’s actually a great buy!

A lot of its buyers have turned into raving fans – and rightfully so! If you buy a vacuum at a super low price, you’d have low expectations.

You’ll probably expect the thing to break down after a couple of uses. Or it won’t work as advertised, that is, it won’t actually clean anything.

Well, you’ll be in for an awesome surprise! Here, let me share with you some of my favorite things about the Ovente ST2620 vacuum.

Favorite feature #1: HEPA filtration system

Honestly, I was very surprised to find out this vacuum uses HEPA filtration. I mean, you’re not going to find it in most vacuums at the same price.

Even the more expensive Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight NEU202 Upright Vacuum only uses a washable non-HEPA filter.

For pet owners, I think it’s extremely important to have a vacuum that uses HEPA filters. Why?

Because HEPA filters can trap and remove 99.97% of allergens and dust particles that are floating in the air. These particles are invisible to the naked eye, but fortunately HEPA filters can trap particles as small as 0.3 microns!

So, if you’ve been sneezing around your dogs and cats lately, perhaps you need to check out a new HEPA vacuum like this Ovente!

Favorite feature #2: Energy-saving speed control

Another surprising thing about this vacuum is the fact that you can control the suction level. I mean, even the slightly more expensive vacuums only have one suction setting.

But for this Ovente, you can choose from a range of suction levels. It’s recommended to use the minimum suction setting for light cleaning work.

On the other hand, if you’ve got a lot of tracked dirt and mud in your home and you need the vacuum to go full-strength, slide the button towards maximum level.

Favorite feature #3: Retractable power cord

The surprises just keep on coming with this little vacuum. Color me impressed! Again, other vacuums at this price point don’t have an auto-rewind cord feature.

You normally need to manually wrap the cord around the vacuum. If there’s a hook, you can hook the cord to it; if there’s none, you can probably wrap it around the handle.

With the Ovente ST2620 series models, you only need to press a button and the cord will rewind back into the vacuum. Nifty, eh?

Favorite feature #4: Plenty of premium attachments included for free

Most vacuum manufacturers bundle accessories into their products, but they usually include the basic ones. 

For Ovente, however, they spared no expense and added a bunch of accessories that all vacuum owners will find useful. Here’s the list of accessories included:

• Pet/sofa brush – great for removing embedded pet hair in sofa, bed, chairs, etc.
• Multi-angle brush which can bend from 0 to 180 degrees – helps you clean tall ceilings, tops of furniture, etc.
• Standard floor brush – cleans both carpets and hard floors
• Furniture nozzle – for use in curtains, blinds, drapes, and of course, furniture
• Crevice tool – great for cleaning corners and tight spaces
• Bristle brush – for corners, radiators, baseboards, etc.

Favorite feature #5: Super low price

And last but not least, the vacuum’s super low price is another attractive feature. You’re not going to see any other vacuum at the same price which includes all the features of the ST2620 series models!

A Few Disadvantages

Disadvantage #1: Limited one-year warranty

Well, this one’s a bit of a downer. It’s a great vacuum, sure, but the warranty is disappointing. I suppose it’s one of the caveats of buying an inexpensive piece of technology.

But for what it’s worth, a lot of users say they’ve used the vacuum for more than a year with no problems, so that should help with your buying decision.

Disadvantage #2: Cleaning reach is a bit on the low end

Both the power cord and the hose on this vacuum are a bit on the short end. The power cord is only around 16.5 feet and the hose is another 5 feet. The telescopic stainless steel wand can be extended by up to 3 feet.

Depending on what you need to clean, this length may not be enough. If you need to cover a longer distance, you can look into using a power strip.

In terms of value for your money, you’re not going to get a better deal than this Ovente. It’s so cheap, you automatically think this is only going to last for a couple of weeks. I was looking for a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner because I’ve got a couple of shedding dogs who love to just lay around on my couch. But unfortunately, most of the good ones were way above my budget. So, I got the next best thing I could find – this Ovente ST2620O (because I like the orange color). I know it’s not exactly the sturdiest thing, nor does it have the strongest suction strength. I’ve learned to live with its limitations, and it does the job just fine. Can’t really complain when I literally bought this for nothing!

• Will this vacuum last me a long time?

Yes, absolutely. Provided you don’t use it to clean a massive wasteland, this vacuum will last you for ages. It’s meant to be used indoors, in regular homes with regular amounts of dirt and pet hair.

• Does this work well on carpets?

Yes, the suction on this vacuum is pretty strong. If the carpet’s got a lot of dirt in it, set the suction strength to maximum level. That should suck out most, if not all, the dirt!

• Is the hose flexible enough?

Yes, the hose can swivel a full 360 degrees.

• How would I know when the dust canister’s full?

The canister is translucent so you can see when it’s full and when it needs to be emptied. For best results, clean the canister with soap and water before putting it back in the vacuum.

Should you buy the Ovente ST2620 Bagless Canister Vacuum?

If you’re on a tight budget, then there is no better vacuum than the ST2620 series models. This vacuum packs a lot of punch, you just might be surprised (well, if you read this entire review, you’d already know what to expect). But kidding aside, this lightweight vacuum is an excellent value for money and will last you a long time!
